2 out of 10 The Video The 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer here is really a mixed bag. It's getting one point for each of Angelina's bare breasts. The little bit of nudity and sex at the beginning is worth a rent, sure, but avoid this like the plague. There's nothing really worth buying this movie for. No, this movie is hurt by the script and the many problems that plagued it from the beginning. Both Jolie and Bandares are great in other roles, and the film also features Thomas Jane who was great in 61* and one of the redeeming factors of Deep Blue Sea. This isn't the fault of the cast, as we know they can act. That's basically the disaster of a story that makes up this disaster of a movie. Yea, she steals all of his money and makes a run for it, yet he still wants her. Even after being both literally and figuratively screwed by her, he is still madly in love. You see Angelina plays a con artist of sorts who immediately goes after Antonio's bank account and clears it. And when I say hell, I mean laughable dialog and storyline that would be rejected from a Mexican Soap Opera. Their two-minute bumping and groaning is probably the only redeeming aspect of the entire movie, but then you realize that you still have nearly two hours of hell to withstand before the credits can role. Of course, you don't throw that back so the two are immediately married and jump in the sack. When she arrives on the island nation, he finds her to be Angelina Jolie. This disaster of a soft porn movie takes place in late 1800's Cuba where Antonio Banderas is a wealthy merchant who meets his future wife through letters. The Movie Original Sin is the equivalent of filling a syringe with elephant tranquilizer and injecting it into your skull. We¿ll be reviewing the Unrated edition, which features a few more minutes of footage that had to be cut to avoid an NC-17 rating. Now, MGM has given the film a minor special edition on DVD in both R-rated and Unrated flavors. Alas, the film was finally released last fall and quickly faded out of theaters.
